  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (for filling)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a jelly roll pan with parchment paper and grease lightly.
  2. Whisk together eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  3. Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt together; gently fold into egg mixture.
  4. Mix in milk and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan; bake for 12-15 minutes until springy.
  6. Turn hot cake onto a cocoa-dusted towel, peel off parchment, and roll up with the towel to cool.
  7. Fold melted chocolate into whipped cream for filling; unroll cake, spread filling evenly, then re-roll without the towel.
  8. For frosting, heat cream to simmering; pour over chopped chocolate and stir until smooth. Frost chilled roll cake.
