Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 3/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup golden brown sugar
  • Zest from one orange
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (or cinnamon)
  • 2 tablespoons fruit juice (e.g., apple cider)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, fresh orange juice, orange zest, and pumpkin pie spice. Stir until sugars dissolve.
  2. Add the rinsed cranberries to the mixture. Cook while stirring frequently until most cranberries pop and the sauce thickens (about 10 minutes).
  3. Lower the heat and stir in the fruit juice of your choice. Cook for an additional minute.
  4. Remove from heat; the sauce will thicken as it cools. Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled.
