  • 6 ounces fresh mozzarella pearls
  • 1 demi baguette
  • ½ cup basil pesto
  • Black gel food coloring
  • 12 ounces cherry tomatoes
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Fresh basil (for garnish)
  • Balsamic vinegar glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a silicone skull mold on a baking sheet.
  2. Fill molds with mozzarella pearls and bake for 6-7 minutes until melted. Cool completely.
  3. Increase oven temperature to 475°F (245°C). Halve cherry tomatoes, season with olive oil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes; roast for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Slice baguette into ½-inch pieces. Toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine basil pesto with black gel food coloring to achieve desired color.
  6. Spread black pesto on toasted baguette slices and return to the oven for another 8-10 minutes.
  7. Top each slice with roasted tomatoes and a mozzarella skull.
  8. Serve drizzled with balsamic glaze and garnished with fresh basil.
